I am not tracking election these days , not in india right now . If that is happening in delhi it is saddening to here .

However my friend and work mates been telling me bjp is better than the prev congress government here especially in the karnataka region . Again i am taking their words (so dont harp me lol) Congress and others have dragged our state backward when they were ruling last 5 years .

I always want a strong prime minister in the center not weakass Rahul gandhi who cant take heavy responsibilities .

I mean if we look at alternate political party there is not much there indians to vote for :

Congress is on heavy decline they still suck to gandhi and dynasty govt , Left is pretty done , you have state parties who really dont have much influence nationally . To be fair all politicians are same politics is ugly people should stop electing spiritual leader or corrupt . Its just simple vote right kind of people to run this country .

 

I don't deny that the Congress was stagnating and needed to yeet away the Nehru-Gandhi family and move the **** on from their past glories. But to claim that Modi and the BJP have grand visions for India is just plain bollocks. And to dismiss socialism as a whole like some brainwashed yankee is also bollocks. A mixed economy can actually work wonders.

The Modi government not only did not scrap any of the UPA's welfare schemes, they introduced dozens of new ones, while at the same time making huge tax cuts for the already rich and powerful; which, by the way, had disastrous long term consequences in America from 1980 to 2020. And they introduced these new schemes despite their tax collections being much lower than what it was in the NDA's final assessment years (on average 5 lakh crore vs on average 6.3 lakh crore).

So... Modi and Jaitley and Sitharaman not only did not step away from Nehruvian socialism, they further embraced it for the sake of votebank politics, while at the same time making huge tax cuts (for the already wealthy) that would make it impossible to fund them. Sitharaman just casually wrote off 160,000 crore in taxes for companies last year.

Do you know what the estimated tax shortfall is for last financial year? Over two lakh crore as a huge low-ball. Some economic experts and eminent Chartered Accountants expect the actual figure to be over 3 lakh crore. Do you know how many people are compliant with GSTR filings? Less than 40% of assessees; and this is because the website does not ******* work most of the time and things are too bloody complicated. The Finance Ministry also keeps changing the rules and procedures literally every quarter (not joking).

Modi's government introduced the ECHS to fund healthcare for armed forces members and veterans. They haven't paid 1,200 crore in dues under this scheme in Karnataka alone. The bill for the whole country is probably around twenty times that. They also haven't paid wages to the tune of around 6,000 crore under the MGNREGA scheme. They have disbursed no more than a measly 5% of the promised disaster relief funds for Karnataka (because of those horrible ******* floods we had last year which displaced 7 lakh people and caused 25k to 35k core in damage) - and that is despite our current BJP CM demanding that they do. They don't have the ******* money!

Modi is allowing HAL and NAL to sink so that he can privatize them, while at the same time handing out IAF contracts to European companies (so much for his make-in-India bullshit). The DRDO's development of indigenous small arms has also taken a back-seat under Modi, who seems to have backtracked to plans of buying small arms from Russia, Israel, and Austria (though the Russian weapons will be manufacture in India itself).

The only good long term thing about Modi's regime is his make-in-India campaign. Oh, wait... The foundations for those were laid in 1997 and revived under the UPA regime, who encouraged OEMs to start manufacturing at plants that were planned to be set up near Chennai, Noida, Thane, and Pune during their tenure. Hmm...

I would also like to remind you that many of the "radical developments" of India's past 70 years were under non-BJP regimes: The National Parks revolution (which paved the way for protection of endangered species), The White Revolution, the IT revolution, the telecom revolution, India's first major ingenious small arms and multi-role fighter and cruise missile projects.

A cousin of mine in Delhi who works for an NGO that builds public baths & toilets for the Delhi municipal corporation (currently controlled by the BJP) says five of their facilities are lying unused because "Modi hasn't found the time to inaugurate them".

Modi and Shah handed a contract to manage five Indian international airports to the Adanis at the drop of a hat.

Unlike Kejriwal, who shoots his mouth off like a maniac but actually has gotten shit done on the ground in Delhi while actually having done something on the corruption and environment fronts, Modi is just all show and well-managed image.

Modi is just all talk, with a shiny public image managed by a Washington-based PR firm that includes some of the world's worst dictators as its clients. His regime is incredibly corrupt, any who raise questions of corruption are branded as anti-national (as happened to one female journalist who exposed Jay Shah's corruption; this was the same woman who highlighted Robert Vadra's ill-dealings), Modi and many of his ministers are confirmed deniers of evolution and human-induced climate change, they changed visa and citizenships laws clandestinely in December 2018 (made it difficult to nigh impossible for foreign Muslims and atheists to get Indian citizenship), they contracted an Israeli intelligence firm to spy on Indian Whatsapp users who were critical of the BJP government, they appointed a CJI with accusations of disproportionate assets and sexual harassment against him, the list goes on and on...

The BJP is just Congress with Hindu fascism tacked on. Nothing more. That makes them worse in my book.

At least the Congress achieved something every now and then.

All the BJP does is talk and talk and resort to fascist hyper-nationalism when anyone calls them out on their bullshit. Well, what else can you expect from a party whose founding fathers and leading figures openly praised Mussolini and Hitler?

Oh, and about your competing with America thing: The US ranks as among the worst of the world's developed nations to live and work in. Their middle class is shrinking and getting poorer. They NEED a little bit of socialism and constraints on their oh-so-holy capitalists.

My ass the BJP in Karnataka is better. Half of the BJP members from Karnataka are former Congress and JD(S) party members to begin with. All but one of the genuinely decent Karnataka BJP members are dead. The last remaining decent lives close to me, and is a genuinely good politician who genuinely cares (and this means a lot coming from me).

Yeddyurappa is a corrupt piece of shit who got his wife murdered so he could marry Karandlaje. Modi specifically altered party rules about not letting those above 70 stand for elections so he could project Yeddy as CM candidate and garner Lingayat votes. When Karnataka was having drought, Yeddy spent 130 crore taxpayer money on homas to pray for rain and good agricultural bounties. Yeddy and his sons, along with the Reddy brothers, have encroached on and destroyed thousands of acres of protected forest in the Malenadu region and Raichur. They also have plans to reduce the buffer zone around Bannerghatta by one-third. The Reddy brothers are corrupt as hell and mafia dons; IAS and IPS officers who have investigated them have disappeared and never been heard from again. But Modi & Shah tolerate them because they bring in thousands of crore to the party (for reference: Janardhana Reddy spent over 500 crore on his daughter's wedding to a wealthy diamond mine magnate). Yeddy has halted investigations into Sanathan Sanstha, a Hindu terror outfit that is guilty of firearms trafficking, bomb-making training, and murder of four prominent rationalists (even the Maharashtra and Goa BJP wings want this outfit banned).

Since 2013, the BJP has consistently held the record for fielding the most candidates with criminal cases against them: 35% as opposed to 25% for the Congress. The BJP also has the highest percentage (not just raw numbers) of legislators charged with crimes against women (from dowry harassment to rape). The number of BJP legislators charged with crimes against women is greater than that of other parties' such members combined.

Karnataka under the BJP has also seen the most violent protests by Hindu fundamentalists, up-ticks in violence against women, up-ticks in police brutality against peaceful protesters
