This is one of those rare times that I agree with you on something music/song related.

This applies mostly to Tokyo and other Japanese metros, which are expensive as heck. But, yeah, Japan is not cheap for an outsider.

You have to factor in local GDP per capita, local pay scales, local median household income, and PPP. Japan has among the highest GDPs per capita and median household incomes in the world.

Also, a fun fact for you: South Korea is even more expensive than Japan.

If one lives in Japan, financial responsibility is a discipline that one has to master. And it isn't something the Japanese people learn as they become adults. It's something they inculcate from childhood.

The Japanese are among the fittest people in the world. Even their junk-food is healthier than that of the rest of the world's. It's still junk, but better than the rest of the world's from a health standpoint.
