Episode 9 was fantastic. Everyone and their dog was trying tooth and nail to bring Big Y down. Orihime is back! Wonder if they'll explain where she went. No sign of Renji though. Would be funny if Renji is killed in anime The arrowhead worked! Uryu zapped Yhwach and Ichigo sliced him obliquely. Apparently Yhwach saw this outcome too but thought it was a dream brught by Haschwalt. I won't believe he's really gone until I see him on the ground. Yuhabaha of all 3 realms came down together. Wonder what would be the outcome if only Ichigo managed to bring him down. Would the other 2 survive?

I was expecting more from Aizen. His performance was disappointing given that he was one of the special threats.

 

Aizen... His absence can be excused as Yhwach choosing to take him out on priority basis, because he is just that much of a powerhouse troll.

The real conundrum: People are wondering where in the bloody fukk Isshin & Ryuken were! The former is comparable to Kyoraku & pre-Hogyoku Aizen in power while the latter is easily low captain level. You had fukking Ryonosuke, who got knocked out by a regular Hollow (not even a Menos), doing shite while Isshin & Ryuken were... What? Having a cigarette somewhere?

 

Yeah lol they just gave gave Uryu the God slaying armament and skedaddled.

 

Ryuken: Alright. I gave him the shit. What now?

Isshin: We go out for cigarettes and milk.

Ryuken: Fukk it. Let's go.

Not the first time Kubo has drawn Moustache King like that.



Kubo went out of his way to make Yhwach look like a dilf here.

 

First arrow was a decoy. And Yukio only guided the artificial Cero fired by the SRDI via his handheld gaming device. Hacked into the SRDI's computer, took control of the beam like it was a game character, and guided it to Yhwach. Absolute madman gaming skills.

Remember Ichigo's bankai training? Old Man Zangetsu said to Ichigo that only his "true blade" (shinuuchi) could defeat him. And Yhwach gets cut down by "true Zangetsu".

That foreshadowing...

Don't also forget that Mr. 5D chess master Kisuke Urahara did something to Grimmjow in order to boost his chances against Quincy blut vene and Yhwach.

If only Nel still had the bracelet Urahara gave her, she might have been more useful. Too bad she used it during her fight against Yhwach to help Uryu teleport moustache king to the collision point between the distortion and Seed of Destruction.

Renji was nowhere to be seen. At all. Orihime was back where Nanao was patching her up, along with Nanao, Rukia, Ginjo, Tsukishima, Giriko.

Funnily enough, Isshin & Ryuken actually had more screen time in the anime than in the manga. I know it sounds weird, but it is what it is. Those bums fukked off after delivering the special plot device arrow.

One more thing of note: Mayuri was an MVP this arc. So was Akon. They really made him shine and proved to us why he is vice-president of the SRDI. No wonder he later gets another promotion. Dude earned it and then some.

In fact, this arc made Akon a fan favourite among the lieutenants & seated officers. He is also a genuine bro, unlike Mayuri.

Even Niko Kuna and other SRDI members also got time to shine, thanks to the anime. Funnily enough, Niko was actually more useful than her sister Mashiro. And all while being stuck behind a computer.

PS:
Yeah... Niko Kuna is Mashiro's sister. Most people seem to never realize or forget.

Ichigo is just that much of a stubborn mongrel. Will go right through an attack instead of around.

 

And this once again goes back to the work done by Kisuke Urahara. He founded the SRDI in 1891-1893, and also personally appointed Mayuri, Akon, and Niko.

That man's influence on the timeline is incalculable.

You and @Laraib also didn't know that Shino was Ikkaku's younger sister. And Ryonosuke, the boy who popped out of Kyoraku's hand to stab Yhwach in the heart, is the younger brother of Rikichi Yuki, who is the current 3rd seat and personal trainee of Renji (he also saved Renji after Byakuya defeated him back in the Soul Society arc).
