To me it's like if the switch was 120 hz, just wouldn't make any sense. xD But to each their own.

Yeah, pretty funny. Then again, if the people who made their own engine are no longer around it's probably harder keeping on top of it.

I have two clients and a relative who worked there. They say the work culture is quite decent, as is the pay and leave granting. The management there aren't the most qualified people, but they're supposedly nicer than at other places.

I am not saying there is no corporate politics. That shit is everywhere.

And be warned: They are supposedly lenient when it comes to granting leave, but will absolutely not tolerate tardiness, not meeting deadlines, and mistreatment of colleagues. They will also make you attend random ass orientation and training sessions that will kill your soul.

However, this applies to their Pune and Bangalore offices. I absolutely do not know what it is like elsewhere.

Yeah. It may also be due to the whole Ukraine shit.

Crytek (who recently announced Crysis 4) and CD Projekt both had offices in Ukraine. So... Yeah...

There were actually rumours that Halo Infinite was also going to be on Unreal Engine 4 or 5. These gained weight after it was revealed that MCC PC used Unreal Engine 4 for the main menus, character customizations, and the in-game content browser. Even one 343 employee said they'd actually considered moving to Unreal Engine fully during Infinite's development hell, but later decided to dig in their heels and stick with their own Blam engine (Slipspace iteration) and Faber dev tools.

Wonder if that was a good or bad decision.

I would say good. The Halo engine has so much shit in it that has that Halo feel, and the good old Halo glitches that actually add to the gameplay. I feel a new engine would take away from that. The Blam engine also has better rendering tech that makes objects look actually three dimensional i.e. with depth and other shit that even modern day engines have to catch up with, such as the incredible AI trees.

Guess it was just the complete mismanagement that fucked it.

This is purely Microsoft's fault. Making the dev team work on both the MCC PC port and Infinite at the same time was ******* dumb; and that was in addition to working on porting Halo Wars 1 to PC and working with Creative Assembly on Halo Wars 2 for Xbox One and PC release.

Halo MCC was released on Xbox One in November-December 2014, and on PC in November-December 2019. An exact five year gap. They should have ported MCC to PC back in 2015 itself. Then 343 wouldn't have had to worry about porting MCC and Halo War 1 to PC while also working on Halo Wars 2 and Halo Infinite (which released on three platforms) at the same ******* time.

MS made 343 work on NINE games between 2014 and 2020: MCC is six games - Halo 1 to 4, ODST, Reach (both campaigns and multiplayer component); Halo Wars 1, which was ported for PC in December 2016; Halo Wars 2, which released in February 2017 on Xbox One and PC (it was a collaboration with another studio, but still...); Halo Infinite (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC).

Who the **** makes a dev team work on NINE games in a five to six year span? This is solely on Microsoft Game Studios.

I also heard that they're using more and more contractors instead of normal jobs for infinite. Imagine trying to cut costs there, when you spend like 500m on the ""new"" engine. So wild.

  14. Tbh the whole game looks like damage control to try to win the fans back by playing it safe on something that they knew would sell well. It's a loser's move to even announce this game imo
