Depends. You want battery life and practicality, yes?

    Oops... My mistake. Sorry.

Yeah, the Zenbook 14 series are good, with their practicality and battery life being great strong points. Display is also fantastic. They also come with some great CPU models. Only issues I have with them personally are the weak GPU performance and overall no-so-rigid feel to them.

Have you considered other options that are . . . tougher built?

Aids. Gotta respect the grind though.
How about that modular upgradable laptop, if that is in his region depending on price, may be a good option.

Do people think cryptocurrencies will replace the current standard currencies around the world in the future? Would be interesting to see how they develop, especially bitcoin.

I think so. Personally what I think is more likely is government issued and regulated coins for official country currency.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was just curious because people having been talking about having a cashless society for a long time, so worldwide cryptocurrency usage just seems logical.

Considering how the transactions are public too, it would be basically impossible to hide your income, or participate in money laundering if that was the currency of the country.

    Doubt it
Unlike the west the countries of Asia and Africa are more Conservative and government won't allow digital currencies like Bitcoin if it challenges their control over the money in their country. You will probably see more strict regulations regarding it in most of Asian nations.

I assume it they'd create their own digital currency, whether it's considered crpyto or not is another matter i guess.

Yeah, that makes sense. Do you think any current third world countries will ever reach first world status when technology like automation improves?

Yes that probably happen but the system will vary from country to country. Many countries in East will probably fear that digital currency can become a way to subjugate them either by Western nation or by larger neighbours.

Doubt it. First World nations don't want to share latest tech in most cases even when they do it is very costly.
Also for West the third world nation are cheap source of raw minerals and refugees. Couple that with fact that these nations are inherently corrupt to core. A simple example is Afghanistan where US spent 2 Trillion over 20 years and the government ended up collapsing in like weeks.

On other hand you may see pockets of industrialised and westernised third world becoz that suits both West and the dictators/politicians in these countries.

Framework, right? Nice idea, but it might not be available for him and might be too expensive?

    @JoeJoe

Acer Swift 5 and 7 are nice alternatives to Zenbook. They perform better with the exact same CPU and GPU due to being configured to highest cTDP those models come with. They also run cooler and are surprisingly well built. Only downside is the display is not as good as on the Zenbook.

If you're in Germany, you can also consider XMG.

    ^ This.

Digital currencies also face a major hurdle in countries like India: Only a small percentage of the population actually have access to reliable net connections and mobile data connections.

So unless someone can pioneer offline digital wallets...

That's what I meant yeah, I am not sure on regional pricing and availability, but it's worth considering if possible.
