Naruto loved Sakura who loved Sasuke who was only interested in Revenge. Assuming by 699 Sasuke returned Sakura's feeling and Naruto was out of the game.
So shouldn't Sakura herself tell him Hinata liked him since she knew and was acting like cupid(far more than neji) in movie

yeah one of the biggest retcons being shadow clone by naruto at young age but i think its becoz NH literally has Zero buildup in Manga so they were happy with whatever they got.
and most of them are same people who believe Hinata can beat Sakura or Neji even Sasori, Pain etc so yeah won't expect much from them

Well, there's definitely camps of fans who felt that way, and there were also those that were very happy he ended up with Hinata. But there were quite passionate opinions on both sides!

I almost caused a rift in my own household too, because my wife was very upset also that Naruto didn't get together with Sakura. In fact, she complained quite vehemently to me!

A hinata fan said remove sakura from story and nothing changes so a sakura fan said it was Sakura who saved Hinata's life(Pain) and then hinata fanboy hit back no hinata would have survived without sakura's help highlighting tenten's speech bubble on a panel that her injury is not fatal completely ignoring next part which was "but if we do not hurry it will be fatal"
