Just finally got around to playing Xenoverse 2 again, and why the hell are they using Patrick Seitz for Jiren instead of someone like Tony Oliver? Seitz is better for Toppo, or they could have had him use his Kenpachi voice but not be gruff and maybe, but nope they went full Laxus. I feel like Tony would've been better, just have him deepened his speech a little and you basically have a match for how Jiren sounds in japanese.

 

Must be all the high fructose corn syrup.

Yeah... Going for the same sound as the Japanese voice actor is usually not a good idea, as the emotions don't end up being conveyed properly and it overall might sound horrible. A good example of this is Toward the Terra, where the Animax dub tried to replicate the Japanese voices for many characters. The result was one of the worst English dubs I have ever heard.

I guess that is true, often times there's no actor who can convey a character the same way. I'm hoping they step a little away from carbon copying Laxus' voice though for Jiren, nothing wrong with the VA he's one of my favourites actually, just feels odd hearing Jiren with so much emotion. Guess that's what I get for watching the sub.
