Personal best anime and critically best anime?

My personal favorite is a toss up between Code Geass and Gundam 00.

As for looking at everything I've watched up to this point critically, One Punch Man stands out. The animation is some of the best there is, that kind of production is rare and usually seen in OVA series or movies. The soundtrack is great and the humor, while dead-pan at times and subjective, is great because it's just making fun of anime tropes. There's no annoying voice actors either, which is rare. It's easy to watch, doesn't discriminate between demographics much and as a result, it's accessible and enjoyable for anime fans and non-anime fans (fun fact: comedian Bill Burr watches it and he's not an anime guy). Something could be said of how the author is making a commentary on Japanese work culture and how much it sucks by making an over powered hero who treats his profession as a hobby, who had initially trained so hard but grew apathetic once he reached his goal. I'm not smart enough to really delve into it too much. But I think something substantive is there behind it just being a satirical, fun anime.

All of these anime are in my opinion masterpieces.All of them were just greatly made.I didn't count shonens I read currently.

 

Favs would be:

Monogatari
Darker than Black
Naruto

Of those 3, looking critically, Naruto is a great starter but overlong and hence poor finisher (still luv it tho) , Darker than Black is an episodic convoluted mess of a series (and I enjoy every bit of it anyway) and Monogatari is a masterpiece (if you disagree you can go die, objectively speaking ^_^).

 

My personal faves? Monogatari for sure. Also Cowboy Bebop, Samaurai 7, Samurai Champloo, Baccano and Durarara. Keijo!!! is on the list for obvious reasons.

And if I was a critic? Easily Monogatari again. There are so many layers of depth and character study that it's never boring to rewatch for me. There is always something new to understand or discover. It expresses so much about being human despite the focus on such monstrous characters.
