S25 series have no major upgrades over their predecessors. The RAM upgrades mean nothing, since the Samsung flagships have fast RAM modules, already excellent RAM management, and excellent multi-tasking capabilities anyway. Other than that, they actually have some downsides:

    1. No Si-C batteries. The S26 series will apparently get those. Charging speeds are no issue for most people, apparently; only some rabid Xiaomi and OnePlus fanboys.

    2. They are removing the Samsung SMS app from One UI 7 and making Google's SMS app the default. This is a huge negative for me, because Samsung's SMS app has outstanding spam filtering and privacy features. Google's default SMS app is being supported only because Samsung couldn't be arsed to make their in-house SMS app RCS compatible.

    3. Edge panels are also being done away with. Many people hate this feature. However, many others - myself included - make regular use of Edge panels. They are actually really practical and useful, especially for office workers.

    4. Only devices upgrading from One UI 6 to 7 will retain Edge panels. No word yet on the Samsung SMS app, but it might still be retained; you will - for now - for sure lose out on it if buying a device with One UI 7 out of the box; the app also will not be updated further [Latest version available in Galaxy Store and Play Store is 14.5.44.3 as on 15th Jan 2025]. Edge panels and Samsung SMS app will not be available in the Galaxy Store and Play Store from 25th January onwards (later in some regions).

Yeah... The S23 and S24 are looking like far better value for money right now. Especially the S23. Vanilla S23 8GB/256GB is going for the same price right now as Galaxy A55 12GB/256GB.

Josip, waiting for his new gaming rig:

Nah... But there is little distinction right now among most of the big-name Android devices when it comes to internal design. On the inside for example: The Motorola Edge series are hard to tell apart from the Galaxy A3x, A5x, even S2x FE series. The same applies to the lower end Motorola G series and Galaxy M series.

A more apt comparison with iphone would be the Google Pixel series.

Looking at HMD and cursing them.

Motorola W220 was also quite reliable; amazing battery life as well - three days on a full charge, two even if you spent a fukk tonne of time playing the games on it.

Are those Nokia phone tossing contests still a thing in Finland?

And then there is the old Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro. I miss mine so much. It was a top quality device. It was one of the last three Android devices with a physical keypad.

    They did.

The internet back then was . . . quite something.
    Show Spoiler

I remember stumbling on some websites back then which have left me scarred mentally.

    Yeah, ios is just dogshit.

Also, I am genuinely interested in this device:

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Liber...2GB-RAM-2TB-storage-5G-and-more.950866.0.html

Only drawbak so far seems to be the eMMC storage, when the SOC can theoretically support UFS 2.1 at least and even M.2 NVME via USB-C port. They could have cut the RAM in half and spent the saved cash on faster internal storage. Because who in the bloody heck needs 32 GB RAM in a phone?

Yeah. I have the exact same feeling. Just switching between apps and changing one minor setting is too much work. It also doesn't help that getting the device itself repaired costs as much as a brand new budget Android that'll be good for 3+ years.

Tell me about it. They also market themselves as innovators while being so behind the times, that they advertise as a big deal some newly introduced ios features that Android phones have had since 2010. They are also still use PWM that should get them sued for selling devices that are health hazards.

60 Hz PWM with 25% amplitude is fukking pathetic on a Euro 800-900 device.

Do you know how bad that PWM is? It can give me a migraine bad enough to knock me out for 12 hours. And I'm only moderately PWM sensitive. Imagine someone with epilepsy or higher degree of autism. That display would murder them.

Even LG and Samsung, the very companies that make iphone displays, have moved on from such terrible PWM levels since about 2014. Such a low PWM and high amplitude were very clearly cost-cutting measures on Apple's part (because increasing PWM, lowering amplitude, and providing DC dimming all cost just a tiny bit more). Imagine trying to cut a pitifully small level of cost on a device that sells for Euro 800-900.

Meanwhile, Motorola gives 700 Hz PWM and DC dimming on a devices that retails for less than half as much.

Post list again please I think you said you made a few changes.
    I missed this sorry

I think that 5070ti is prob best bang for buck. 5090 reviews are out and basically it's a bit of a mixed bag like 20-40% uplift at 4k (game depending) and that drops a bit at 1440p closer to around mid 20s i think and 1080p is lower as the cpu is the limiting factor pretty much but more power. So seems like the play is -6% performance to drop 30% power draw (400w~ from 600w~).

Android is based on Linux. So, technically, every Android phone is a Linux phone, albeit with a proprietary suite on top. What sets this one apart is that it is based on Debian.
