Writing in the latter half of the series (after first seven year time-skip) was fanfiction tier to begin with. Went even further downhill in the final arc and in the sequel.

If you want to get into the series, the manga and anime are both good till the Grand Magic Games arc. It starts getting bad from there. Tartarus arc onward it goes really downhill.

I remember that they were quite active in versus debates, taking any and all chances to wank FT and downplay other series.

first 4 week sales of each volume. As you can see steep decline. Now look at last volume sold more in first week than previous 2 but thats becoz it had more days(above volume number you can see days for first week 5 in case of last volume)

so they wanked the shit out of increasing sales and Boruto greatness

Naruto has consistent sale for all volumes so Naruto fanbase was hardcore kishi supporter. He took a dump on them they took a dump on him. Its only fair

The big mangas are doing good in terms of sale Boruto[which they believe is one of the big manga] not so much.

The newer mangas are also performing better than it in terms of sale. Talking about shonen jump Black clover, Dr Stone, Jujutsu Kaisen(does not have an anime) outsells it.
Mangas like Act Age(no anime) sells as as much as it in terms of each volume sales but outsells it otherwise(almost all of Act Age volume start selling on top 500 when new volume is released). Oh and its newer volumes does get reprints

Most of the fans of other series are negative perception towards boruto fanbase(it has horrendous art, leaves out details in manga so anime could fill it and is sucking on naruto's popularity rather than standing on its feet)
Negativity and Toxicity towards it is met with Toxicity from Boruto fandom and judging from fact they like boruto the comback is loud but illogical

well his prized story got axed but it was his fault along with SJ.
They ordered like 100k copies of first few volumes of Samurai 8 while it end up selling some 28k in first month. They overestimated him and also he didn't promote S8 with one shot before actually starting it that could have helped fans built a perception of manga.

 

So that's what is relatable now lol? But I get what you mean.

Well, I also thought his name would be enough to promote his new manga. You'd think people would like to read anything made by the Author of Naruto. But like you said, majority of the original Naruto fans' attention went to Boruto instead of a new title, mostly because they wanted something related to Naruto, before half of them dropped when they realized it's just a cheap sequel lol.

A lot of fandoms are like this nowadays - full of spoiled brats who don't know real hardship and real waiting and bitch about anything and everything when they don't get their way or soon enough. The truly sad part is that a lot of these brats are legal age adults in their 20s and even 30s.
