MP's literacy rate is below Haryana's. Furthermore, the gap between male and female literacy rates in MP is larger than in Haryana. Rural MP is also revoltingly misogynistic and backward even by UP and Haryana's standards. You simply don't hear about all this shit because Chauhan's government preferred to portray a more positive image of the state for 14 years in a row. Women face some truly revolting levels of exploitation and violence in MP - information about which is heavily suppressed. And don't even get me started on how crony capitalists have a free run.

An example of how bad women and girls have it in MP:

If a man borrows money from someone, the lender claims a right to sleep with his wife or sister or daughter in case of non-repayment of an instalment. Lenders will also sometimes take the women & girls and make them stay in their house till the loan is repaid in full. This practice is apparently a huge problem in rural MP.

Women in MP also have it the worst when it comes to healthcare and the Pradhan Pati system.
