@upsurge Just had to drop out of a debate with a guy who was trying to say Maul was superior to Windu, simply because Sidious "couldn't" kill him after he kicked his ass... Same guy tried to say last week Savage was a match for Fisto...

Maul wankers are some of the worst in the fandom. It is impossible to argue against the worst of them. They will just refuse to accept the fact that he's barely around Dooku's level and there are no feats whatsoever to indicate him being above that level in either Legends or Disney continuity. They're a lot like that Gray Wanker who made all those dupes.

Maul is certainly comparable as a duellist but clearly inferior as a Force wielder (comparable in terms of raw power based on what we've seen in the Son of Dathomir comic but he does not have the skill and precision and variety of Dooku).

Savage = Fisto?
Savage uses basic lightsaber combat styles. Jensaarai1 believes Savage uses Shii-Cho and might have gotten some basic training in Niman from Dooku. Fisto is a decent counter to Savage as a lightsaber duellist. Savage is comparable to High Council members in terms of raw power in the Force but his skills are shit (in terms of control, precision, variety, needs more time to focus his energies for a big attack) and Fisto has shown himself to be skilled in quickly chaining powerful Force attacks into his lightsaber sequences. And if we're talking Legends versions, Fisto would quickly make a fool of Savage.

 

Aye I remember all those dupes... Scarey part is, they all seemed like they were different vs threads aside.

It felt weird to be arguing against one of my favourites in a debate, usually I see Maul being downplayed as a padawan level combatant who happens to be a decent duelist. This likely comes from the fact he doesn't use the mechanical parts of the Force, I'm heavily impressed he manages to fight on par with people who do while just augmenting himself.

Aye Fisto's always great against people who have aggressive styles, such as Grievous and Savage, and he's had some of the weirdest force applications I've seen out of the Jedi Council, like bubbles and a force poke-which sent a CIS tank flying- in one comic.

That is some sad downplay. I don't understand how anyone can accuse Maul of being Padawan level when he is equal to end of TCW Kenobi (one of the stronger High Council members).

Another factor in this downplay might be the recent canon Darth Maul comic from Marvel. Have you read it yet, Errant?

Yeah. His style usually involves going in there and just preventing the opponent from focusing for Force fuckery. And it helps that Jedi of this era don't really use the Force much in duels other than for physical augmentation.

I'm guessing Maul would have a tough time with the likes of Kao Cen Darach.

It's called Force Water Orb. It was such an awesome trick. I'd like to seem him use it in canon if the Mace Windu canon comic branches out into a series of Jedi of the Republic comics focusing on other High Council members.

I want more Plo Koon and Shaak Ti badassery in this Canon damn it!!!

Ooh, that'd be one interesting fight, especially if he brought out his Pike as well. Especially since it's a form Maul doesn't know that well most likely, he often used his knowledge of the forms to his advantage, as we saw in his final duel with Obi.

Aye I'd love for Koon and Shaak to get some upgrades in the canon, Shaak Ti was a badass jedi who could've held her own versus almost any Sith, and now she's simply the Councillor who watched over the clones and Anakin shanked while meditating... No holding her own versus a hoard of Magna Guards, no getting special attention from Grievous, no awesome fight atop a Rancor...

No more "one of the six greatest warriors of the Jedi order", no more Kinetite, holding back a flood with her will, etc.

And then there's Plo Koon... No more outshining Fisto and Quinlan Vos, humiliating Ventress with one arm literally behind his back, Plo Koon's Isshin Kurosaki style finger flick of justice, making a fool of Savage Opress.

 

Aye, they both got the shaft due to not having much in the new canon stuff. Hell, Koon didn't even get to show off his flying in Clone Wars, just escort some bombers.

 

Dammit, now I've spent the past thirty minutes imagining how awesome legends Shaak Ti vs Rebels Ahsoka would be... I'd say they're equal in dueling, Ti has a clear advantage in force application what with mastering multiple uses and things such as seismic waves versus the simple but powerful force push, pull, and augmentations of Ahsoka, and endurance goes to Ti again due to having a battle span a large portion of Coruscant and still being able to keep going, whereas Ahsoka seemed to be (rightly so) exhausted after the opening minutes of fighting Vader, combat and reaction speed going to Tano however...

I'd lean to Ti winning in an extended duel, though Ahsoka could end it quickly if she manages to get Ti off balance like she did to Vader.
